Rellivalasa:
A Village Transformed

Rellivalasa, a small village in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, became the starting point for Agrifields Foundation’s impactful journey. Have done assessment to understand the needs of  the Rellivalasa village and identified the village needs support in the areas of  health, school education, skill development, best farming practices, and awareness on sanitation. Agrifields Foundation with support of Cultivatec, built a comprehensive plan to support in the above areas and aimed to bring meaningful and lasting change to this village community. Agrifields Foundation began by addressing the
immediate healthcare challenges.

Health Camp

They organised a health camp at Zilla Parishad High School, providing free medical checkups to the students. During the camp, teenagers shared longstanding health issues such as persistent coughs and colds that had worsened due to lack of timely care.

Myopia

Eye problems like myopia and hypermetropia were also common, causing headaches and impacting their studies.

Safe Space

A gynaecologist created a safe space for girls to discuss their personal health concerns, ensuring their well-being was prioritised.

Turning to the village's lifeline—agriculture—Agrifields Foundation collaborated with the local Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) and invited a renowned agronomist to share techniques for improving maize and paddy yields. Farmers were trained to reduce input costs and pesticide overuse while enhancing crop quality. Safety kits, including masks, gloves, transparent goggles, and aprons, were distributed to ensure safer farming practices.

To foster sustainable economic growth, Agrifields Foundation adopted the local FPO, empowering it to become a self-sustaining entity. By connecting the FPO directly to major maize buyers, they ensured consistent income and better margins for farmers. Recognising Rellivarasa’s potential as a producer of high-quality sesame seeds, Agrifields Foundation initiated plans to support development a premium brand around this unique crop, aiming to increase household incomes and establish the village as a hub of excellence.
